Take-Two: Q1 2012 Revenue Is Down, Expected

by Jeff Marchiafava on Aug 08, 2011 at 12:12 PM

Today Take-Two reported that its net revenue is down from last year, while stressing the number of high profile games it has on the horizon.

Take-Two's net revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012 was $334.4 million, compared to $375.4 million last year. Additionally, the company is operating at a net loss of $8.6 million, as opposed to a $27.4 million profit for the year-ago period. Take-Two says that the results are in line with its financial outlook, and cited L.A. Noire, Duke Nukem Forever, NBA 2K11, and Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do as the quarter's big money makers (in comparison to last year's release of the hugely successful Red Dead Redemption).

In light of the drop in revenue, Take-Two pointed to three anticipated sequels for fiscal year 2013: BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, and Spec Ops: The Line. With Take-Two's only standout titles between now and then being NBA 2K12, The Darkness II, and XCOM, we suspect this may not be the last time the publisher urges shareholders to sit tight for its triple-A releases to arrive.
