Square Enix Shows Support For My Final Fantasy World Record Attempt

by Phil Kollar on Aug 05, 2011 at 01:50 PM

Judging by the comments in my article about attempting to break the Guinness World Record for longest gaming marathon playing a Japanese RPG, I have plenty of supporters for my 24-plus-hour venture this weekend. What's especially cool, though, is that some of those supporters work at the very publisher responsible for the games I'll be playing.

The Square Enix PR team sent me an e-mail featuring the well-wishing card below. They also hinted that they might be sending us some surprise snacks this weekend. Square Enix PR manager and my good friend Elizabeth Stewart even called me "tiger" in the e-mail, which is the kind of thing that will get any self-respecting nerd pumped up to spend a weekend gaming non-stop.

Worth noting: Nintendo, Konami, Capcom, Bethesda, and Rockstar haven't shown any support to my fellow editors for attempts involving their games. Guess the other guys just aren't as lovable as me!

If you're interested in watching me join five other Game Informer editors in attempting to nab a Guinness World Record, tune in tomorrow. Our livestreaming attempt begins at 9a.m. Central and will run through Monday morning, assuming we make it.
