Dead Island Creeps Onto The Page

by Jeff Cork on Jul 27, 2011 at 04:29 AM

Dead Island has attracted a big chunk of attention, in large part thanks to a particularly effective trailer. Players who are invested in the story of a zombie outbreak on an otherwise gorgeous tropical resort could soon have another outlet for their enthusiasm. Deep Silver and publisher Bantam have revealed that an official novelization is in the works, and it should be hitting U.K. booksellers around the game's launch.

The book is being written by Mark Morris, an award-winning author who has penned four Doctor Who books and several other works of fiction.

"Having marveled, like the rest of the world, at the stunning trailer earlier this year, I absolutely leaped at the opportunity to write the official Dead Island tie-in novel," said Morris. "This is a rich, exotic world of well-conceived characters, stunning locations and all-out zombie mayhem. What really attracted me to the project, however, was the fact that behind the nonstop action is a complex and multi-layered plot. I'm hugely excited and massively honored to be a part of the Dead Island phenomenon."

The book is slated for a U.K. release date of September 8, which is a day before the game comes out in PAL territories. Even if we don't get the novel, North Americans can gloat about getting the actual game a few days earlier, on September 6. Take that!
