Bluetooth Headset, Media Remote Coming To 360

Microsoft has been steadily positioning its Xbox 360 console as a media hub for years now, which is why it was strange to see the company unceremoniously phase out its media remote device. Fortunately, the tyrannical days of using a game controller to browse media are about to end, with the announcement of a shiny new (and official) media remote. Additionally, Microsoft is bringing a Bluetooth headset to the console.

The remote will allow users to browse the Xbox 360's dashboard and control CD, DVD, and video-streaming content. It's also designed to control the audio and power functions of a variety of TVs. It will be available this November for $19.99.

The headset uses Bluetooth 3.0, and features noise cancellation and three sizes of ear gels to accommodate a variety of different head holes. Microsoft says batteries will last around eight hours of talk time or 300 hours of standby on a single charge. It will also be available in November, and it will retail for $59.99

  • you would think they've came out with a remote years ago i have a nyko 1 i think nver use it tho so don't plan to get this
  • It's cool that Microsoft is finally doing this. However, I personally can't stand bluetooth headsets. Maybe its the ones I've used, but they've all been way too quiet, and their battery life was awful.
  • I've got an official Microsoft remote for my Xbox anyway, so I don't need it. Besides, I've started using my PS3 for movies and stuff now.
  • Pretty awesome

  • Maybe someone can correct me, but isn't this the first Bluetooth headset for Xbox officially licensed by Microsoft?
  • The remote still isn't bluetooth?......why? I also use my PS3 for media anyway. I mean blu-ray alone makes the PS3 the choice for media as it is....but that's just me.
  • I used to have a media remote for my 360 untill my brother came and "borrowed" it and I haven't been able to find another one yet so this is definitely good news.I hardly ever wear a headset so I'm not really that interested in the bluetooth

  • does anyone know if the remote with be bluetooth capable. my xbox is hidden in a closet, so if it is not blue tooth or rf capable it does me no good.

  • Am getting the remote cause it will go w/ my slim instead of the white one i still have, this headset looks way better than last one .

  • This is alot better looking than the older white model that I have. I might need to pick this thing up. One thing I would like if if they would increase funtionality and allow it to control my cable box, now that woul be comcastic.

  • I do not care.
  • That's pretty cool.

  • Steep price for the headset. I'll stick with the crappy $20 versions.
  • i'd still take a corded turtle beach where i don't have to worry about battery life over a bluetooth. it'd be way to quiet and in my opinion my px21's have spoiled me :D
  • I'm sick of pausing my game to skip songs by opening the menu and everything. If this remote can solve that problem I'm down for it.

  • I've got to give it to Sony. They had it first.

  • Bluetooth sounds cool but I'd rather have the cheaper headsets. I will probably pick up the remote though

  • ooo shiny

  • I already have the 360 media remote, and the wireless head set.... so why would I buy this? It might be bluetooth but the ones I have now already do the same thing. Didn't know they phased out the media remote.... it works fine.
  • Wait, since when is the 360 bluetooth capable!? I've not heard anything about this since it's launch. Is this something only the new ones can do, because I don't want to buy a new headset and not be able to use it.
