Jason And Michael Myers Could've Been Mortal Kombat DLC

by Tim Turi on Jul 23, 2011 at 06:14 AM

Earlier this week NeatherRealms announced Freddy Krueger as Mortal Kombat's fourth DLC character. With his razor claws and sadistic attitude, the dream-killer is a perfect fit for the Mortal Kombat universe. But did you know other horror icons like Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees and Halloween's Michael Myers were considered as well?

"Over the years, we've certainly had a number of conversations about guest characters," said creator Ed Boon while chatting with PlayStation Blog. "A number of names were run by us: Jason, Michael Meyers [sic] and all those guys. Freddy Kreuger, we felt, was the most instantly recognizable and he fits in with Mortal Kombat with his claws."

The revelation of Freddy had the Game Informer office reeling from the possibilities of a MK vs. horror universe crossover. Leatherface, Pinhead, the Puppet Master dolls, or Chucky would all make for some awesome combatants. Even legends like Frankenstein's monster or Dracula could be a good fit. Come on, NeatherRealms, take our money!
