PixelJunk Monsters Goes Social

by Matt Miller on Jul 22, 2011 at 11:59 AM

The excellent PSN downloadable game is headed to social networks in the coming months.

Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert announced the new project at the Casual Connect conference in Seattle. Cuthbert says the basic functionality of the tower defense game remain intact, with some changes made to better optimize for the new platform. Characters are larger and easier to see, there are fewer enemies per wave, and shorter levels in general. The game also has leaderboards that allow players to compete with friends for the top score. Cuthbert did not reveal whether the game includes any cooperate features.

Pixel Junk Monsters Social is set to release later this year, but it remains to be seen exactly which social networks will play host to the game.
