Analyst Predicts 11 Million Sales For Battlefield 3

Following Battlefield 3's impressive showing at E3, Cowen & Company has raised its first-year sales estimate from 8 million to 11 million.

According to the analyst firm, the BF3 pre-orders are "roughly comparable" to last's year's Call of Duty: Black Ops, which has sold over 20 million units worldwide thus far. Combine these healthy numbers with the extensive marketing campaign EA has planned for the lead up to the launch, and you can see how this game has legitimate blockbuster potential.

Battlefield 3 ships for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 25.

Battlefield 3 is probably the closest contender CoD has ever had so far but I still doubt it'll break 10 million, even.

The game may look/sound amazing but as long as they persist with the same control scheme and lack of fluidity that CoD has then I doubt it'll ever topple its competition (unless Activision drives it into the ground themselves).

Don't get me wrong, I would love BF to succeed like CoD but doing the exact same iteration annually that hasn't been working so far still won't succeed.

I don't see it beating MW3, but I am a bit shocked the estimate is so low in comparison. Its half the sales! I definitely would put it closer, especially considering the marketing and earlier release it has over MW3.

I'd like to say battlefield will completely pummel CoD down, but considering the 12 year olds that i've been dealing with, that just won't happen. here's a quote. "What has battlefield done every year. nothing. CoD has been updating their graphics and story every year. it's the best game ever!" - random 12 year old that walked in to my store.
