Square Enix Is Desperate For Your Sweet, Sweet Words

When you absolutely, positively want to get your message across, words are invaluable. Sure, grunts and punches are great for communicating ideas like "angry," "pain," and "chipped tooth," but more subtle concepts require the assemblage of vowels and consonants that we all know and love. Also, Square Enix is hosting a contest.

If you visit Square Enix's booth at San Diego Comic-Con, PAX, or New York Comic Con, you'll have a chance to play the Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo. Afterward, you'll score a button with a letter on it. At that point, you'll have to move out of your shell and interact with other people. Find other people who have played the demo, use your buttons to form the most words, and you'll have a crack at some prizes. Loot includes merchandise discounts, special T-shirts, and signed copies of the game when it launches.

Visit Square's booth in Hall D, Booth #3829 from July 20 through the 24th at San Diego Comic-Con. Details on the other events will be available on the official site.

The contest's official name is Word to Your Moogle, but the less we say about that, the better.

I mean "GOOD LUCK!"

  • I like the official name O.o
  • I'm sorry, but if I went I would just play that demo.
  • Very Peculiar

  • That's actually a really cool idea, and a good way to get your game spread around the showfloor and talked about.  good job square

  • Good to see them think outside the box for this

  • They're requiring people to work together? This seems like an idea doomed for failure.

  • wish i was there

  • idea is a little dumb but it would probly work just for the stuff if i was there i'd just wanna try the demo tho
  • " Do I have a button?  No...Final Fantasy?  FINE!  Jeez guys fine. I'll go play it for a minute. "

" Yea I got the button finally.  What?  No....I want to go over here and play this....what?  No.  LEAVE ME ALONE! "

    *ten minutes later*

" I had a button.  I threw it in the trash.  Whats wrong with you people? No Im not going to go find it in the trash.  What?  No..I dont want the stupid T shirts.  IM TRYING TO ENJOY MYSELF HERE!  YOU PEOPLE ARE DRIVING ME INSANE!  "

This would be me an hour in.  I shudder to think about it.

  • Lol i remember when NVIDEA did something like this for PAX i think last year where they had buttons ranging from 0000-9999 and you had to find the other person who had the same number as you among the 3 days you went. Almost impossible.

  • That's awesome! I'd totally do this. NYCC doesn't come soon enough :)

  • ....super lame Enix (I don't want to call them Square because that is when they were good.)

  • Thats really cool i know somebody that would love this i just wish they would answer ther phone -_-
  • it seems like a good way to interact with other gaming nerds but if someone tries to touch on of the five moogles up for sale their heads are gonna get chopped up

  • Cool i guess.

  • *re-reads a couple times* I don't get it.

  • I heartily approve of this.  That sounds like a lot of fun!

  • I guess it could work.

  • intersting.

  • Creativity never hurts. If I were attending, I'd participate.
