Wii U's Assassin's Creed Isn't Revelations

by Jeff Cork on Jul 18, 2011 at 10:27 AM

At E3 2011, Ubisoft revealed that it was working on an Assassin's Creed game for Nintendo's recently announced Wii U console. Beyond that, details were scarce. Aside from providing a few tidbits on how the developers could take advantage of the device's dedicated touchscreen – pulling map duty, showing off database entries, providing a "window" for Eagle Vision – there wasn't any info on what the game would actually be. Would it be a port of an older game? Could it be a version of the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Revelations? Is it something entirely new? According to an interview with a Swedish publication, you can now scrub those first two options off the list.

Eurogamer has translated an interview on Swedish site Aftonbladet, in which Ubisoft head Yves Guillemot says the game isn't Revelations when asked point blank. "No, not Revelations. For the future," he said. When pressed about whether it's Assassin's Creed III, he answers by saying he's not able to say.

And now the speculation on what "for the future" means begins.
