EA Adding 300 Jobs In Austin

Electronic Arts is significantly expanding its Austin, Texas, operations, part of which involves building up a new EA Sports team.

The new team will support existing EA Sports studios located in Florida and Vancouver and isn't a shifting of resources from a downsized studio elsewhere, according to a report by Joystiq.

"Orlando's expanding, Burnaby's expanding, EA's growing," EA Sports COO Daryl Holt told the website. He also mentioned that the new development unit will start out focusing on HD platforms and later expand to "emerging" markets.

Does this mean that the company will manage to get an NBA game out this year?

  • Well now,EA is nowhere as evil as activison.
  • 300 hires across several different fields.

I was about to say, 300 exclusively for sports? What in the world could they be preparing for?
  • Anytime a company is adding jobs it's great news.  Hopefully they will bring some new ideas to the table and revamp some of the sports titles.  I quite buying NCAA football games after 2008.

  • No!!!! I don't want my stupid friends to talk about another basketball game their not good at!!!!!!! Please just be a madden game their helping with!!

  • The opposite story you usually read, adding jobs instead of cutting them. Good to hear!

  • It seems like all the new jobs are in Texas. And if Austin wasn't awesome enough. I would totally move there tomorrow if there wasn't the sweltering heat.
  • Finally someone creating new jobs and not closing a studio! Too bad I'm not much of a sports fan but good luck to the new members of the teams.

  • More jobs is always great.

  • nice for EA.

  • GO EA!!! LEAD THE WAY AGAINST CRAPPY ECONOMIC HANDLING AND WIN THE FIGHT AGAINST ALL ODDS!!
  • That's cool. This should be good for EA.

  • No they won't.

  • Thats cool that were actually reading an article where people are gaining jobs instead of losing them

  • at least its good that people who dont have jobs anymore in the video game industry might get jobs again. im still sad about bizzare creations and blackrock studios. And propaganda

  • As long as more jobs are created :)

  • I live in Dallas. It would be a cool job... if only I had my degree in media and RTVF instead of international studies.
  • its great to see they're opening job opportunities instead of closing them...

  • OBAMA!

    jk

  • So the industry continues to grow. good to see.

  • Ugh, anything but basketball. Can you say boring?
