First Shots Fired In Call of Duty Beta

by Ben Reeves on Jul 14, 2011 at 11:26 AM

Activision’s Call of Duty: Elite beta started today, but if you weren’t one of the lucky one who got invited, what can you do?

Over 2 million people signed up to be a part of Activision’s Call of Duty: Elite beta, the new social networking-like service for future Call of Duty titles. Unfortunately, the company’s first round of invites couldn’t accommodate everyone. If you were one of the lucky ones to get invited to the service then you are probably too busy playing the game to care, but if you haven’t yet been invited, do you need to worry that you’re going to lose your edge?

“Remember, this is a live beta with an evolving system,” Activision social media manager Dan Amrich shared on his blog. “It’s like entering the Indy 500 while the car is still being built. As long as the system can remain stable, more people will be invited as frequently as possible – as many and as often as the system can accommodate.”

Activision will be trying to get “as many as possible” into the beta. If you haven’t yet signed up for the beta, there might still be time. Register here?
