Netflix Hitting 3DS Tomorrow

While many Netflix users are still busy complaining about recent changes to the service's pay structure, this week will see Netflix's popular Instant View streaming launch on a new platform to help justify that price hike.

GoNintendo (via ShackNews) reports that the Netflix app for the 3DS will be available to download on the handheld system tomorrow, July 14. 3DS users will also be able to download Game & Watch Gallery, a port of the NES classic Baseball, and several new DSiWare titles. The Netflix app will be a free download.

Anyone planning to download this for some movie-watching on the go?

Comments
  • Because i totally want to keep my head in a certain position so the 3d effects are right through hour long movies.

I mean, its cool, but thats a long time to keep your head at position X and the 3DS at position Y
  • On the 3DS, huh? I wonder how this will affect the battery life...
  • Yeah i'll probably grab the app and see how it runs. I'll be interested in seeing if they start streaming 3D movies, and how they will look on the system.

  • I'm going to snag Netflix on the 3DS immediately. Now if I only had somewhere to go (with free Wi-Fi).
  • it's about time, and what time will it be available?
  • Sound like a pretty good incentive to keep Netflix, especially if your family (for example) is watching Harry Potter on the PS3 but you wanna watch Zombieland. You can just turn on the 3DS and everyone's happy! Here's to hoping that the same can go for the PSV!
  • This is some BS, 3DS gets Netflix meanwhile Android users are still left in the dark....
  • I might be sligtly more interested if I traveled on the road alot and did'nt have a big@ss tv, also such a small screen...

  • That is... well I have to admit, that is pretty *** surprising.
  • one word: :-)
  • This is... um... unusual.

  • thats good for fools with the 3DS but still fools shouldnt realy think of it as being beter since the 3D videos are just trialers not the whole movie but stil its the first handheld games system to support netflix.
  • The movies will NOT be viewed in 3D people, God. The 3DS simply has enough power to stream Netflix like an iPod touch or iPhone.

And it's a FREE app. Why are you complaining unless you don't have a subscription to Netflix? Quit your whining.

  • This doesn't justify the price increase for the people who don't own or want to own a 3ds
  • I will download it but with battery life will have to watch it plugged in to the wall which makes it a moo point
  • because i own a 3ds and am totally planning on buying one the price hike is justified. end sarcasm.

  • Hmm, streaming movies on a handheld. If I only wanted streaming video I would be pretty interested in this. But as for now, Netflix just got on my bad side, and I have no problem canceling services, considering I've done it 10-15 times in the past few years. Maybe around the time the PSV comes out I'll regain my respect for Netflix.

  • PSV next, please.

  • Oh yah! This is awesome! Wait are the movies in 3D?
  • PS Vita anyone?
