Cliff Bleszinski Knows You’ll Buy A Wii U

by Ben Reeves on Jul 11, 2011 at 09:30 AM

“It’s Nintendo. I’ll buy it. I know I’ll buy it. They’ll talk s*** but they’ll buy it.” Those are the words of Epic Games developer and Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski, speaking about Nintendo's upcoming Wii U hardware in a recent interview.

During E3, IndustryGamers talked with the prominent developer about Nintendo’s new system. Bleszinski has several positive things to say about Nintendo’s new system:

"From what I’ve seen, it looks pretty cool. It seems like you can stream your game from your television directly to your controller, so if you have irritable bowel syndrome, or a small bladder, you can still play it in the toilet. That’s great. But, you know, from what people are saying online, they’re like, 'Oh, it’s just a DreamCast, whatever.' But it’s like, 'Dude, what’s old is new sometimes.' The Power Glove [back on NES] led to the Wii, right? The Virtual Boy led to the 3DS, right? A lot of these older technologies that you forget about are [the technological predecessors]. The Kinect is a sophisticated webcam, right?”

Epic Games hasn’t made any official announcement regarding Wii U development, but an Epic-developed game could be a huge hit on the new system. Given Bleszinski's feelings, let's hope they're considering it.
