PS2 Collection A Sight To Behold, But Not Play

by Jeff Cork on Jul 08, 2011 at 02:35 AM

If you’re a budding game collector, here’s a story that will make you see your stash for what it is: an unremarkable assemblage of crap. At least, that’s how you may feel after seeing what one PlayStation 2 fanatic has acquired after years of scouring the globe.

The site PlayStation Collecting has an interview with a user named Ahans76, who has achieved a remarkable feat. He’s managed to scrape together sealed copies of just about every NTSC PS2 game released. Of course, they’re all original editions, too. That’s more than 1,850 games and counting, since new titles are still being added to the system’s library.

The most money that Ahans76 paid for a game as $300 for a copy of Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land. Otherwise, he says that he typically never paid more than retail for the games. Still, with the number of games in his library, even paying a bit less than retail would still sting the average gamer’s wallet.

At any rate, congrats on the sealed collection. It definitely proves that dreams do come true if you have enough money.
