EA’s Origin Helps Players Stay Connected On iOS

by Ben Reeves on Jul 07, 2011 at 10:42 AM

At this year’s EA Showcase event, the publisher talked about its new Origin service, which is designed to helped PC and mobile players stay connected and access their games through a single unified login.

EA wants to make Origin a new destination for browsing, buying, downloading and playing EA’s growing list of titles. Using Need for Speed Shift for iPad, EA showed off some of the service's features. The developer logged into Origin, and they could then find and connect with friends, see what they are playing, and then join in with their games. While playing Need for Speed, Origin kept us up to speed on everything that their friends were doing. It seems a lot like Xbox Live for iPhones and iPads. EA promised that Origin users would also be able to unlock a variety of new courses and gain extra cash for their games. Origin is available for mobile phones and PCs, and it’s free to download here.
