Take Two Registers Rockstar Films Trademark

by Dan Ryckert on Jul 06, 2011 at 12:09 PM

If there’s one developer that has regularly presented gamers with beautifully cinematic gaming experiences this console generation, it’s Rockstar. If a recent trademark is any indication, they may be looking to take their talents (and iconic IP) to the big screen.

“Rockstar Films” was registered as a trademark on December 21st, 2010 by Take-Two Interactive. As of June 14th of this year, it was confirmed as “Publication/Issue date complete.” The summary of the trademark is as follows:

Animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes.

SystemLink Alt also reports that Take-Two owns the URLs RockstarFilms.com and RockstarFilms.net. No word yet on what the developer might be planning, but we’d love to see what they could do in the film medium.
