Insomniac Games Names Resistance 3 Composer

by Andrew Reiner on Jun 29, 2011 at 05:33 AM

No surprises here, people. Insomniac Games has once again enlisted the talents of Boris Salchow, the same composer who worked on the last game in the series. Salchow and his musicians holed up at London's Abbey Road Studios to create the soundtrack, which the composer says is darker and more emotionally stirring than the previous games.

"In Resistance 3 human civilization as such is gone," he said. "People flock together in small groups, trying to survive as long as possible. Not even a military organization is left. The soundtrack reflects this – instead of military elements, we find some very intimate sounding compositions where I use piano, woodwinds, a boy soprano, and somber string arrangements. For this setting, it was crucial to record the score live since the Resistance 3 score describes the emotions of the survivors."

Resistance 3 is slated to ship exclusively on PlayStation 3 on September 6.
