The lights are on
Ever notice how the armor that female characters get in video games isn't exactly the most protective? What's the deal with that?
The CollegeHumor video below doesn't directly deal with video games, but it's a situation that I think anyone who's ever played as (or looked at) a female character in a game can understand. In it, the great warrior Lyla Windtalker is gifted the "incredibly sturdy Dragon Mail of Protection." Sadly, it doesn't look too protective....
Ah, that was pretty funny and sadly true but we all know why this happens.
looking at the oblivion armour mods for female characters makes me want to facepalm
Doesnt matter. as long as they look good. most girl characters are meant for speed. heavy armor would just slow them down.
lol loved the ending there.
Men needs armor for protection, women adds their Charisma modifier. A simple house-rule for D&D that works fine for sexy protective pieces (i'm not sure it's right to call it armor).
So true. The only women in gaming I know of that have good armor are female spartans and samus.
Clearly showing a little skin distracts the bad guys, and gives a boost in morale to the good guys!
Samus Aran had good armor. so did Jeanne D'Arc uts only the games that vy for sex appeal. but yea this is pretty funny.
‘Sa matter Phil, haven’t been on the planet long. Did your parents forget to have the birds and the bees talk with you?
I found the explanation that the bad guys will “aim for the shiny parts” particularly funny because the subtext speaks to a basic truth-
“God gave man a brain and a *** but only enough blood to run one at a time” (Robin Williams)
Years ago, when my sons were 5 and 8, I overheard them laughing about “booby traps”. The 8 year old was explaining to the 5 year old that these traps are “dangerous because they are pointy”.
Despite their young age, I believe my children discovered the rationale for the design decision you are questioning- The armor for female warriors is designed to protect their most vital and strategically important weapons- their booby traps.
Wow. Its true though we do get the worst armor its the reason why I'd rather play as a guy character than a girl one.
I see nothing wrong with this armor design.
They don't need more protection if they have "that" kind of front defense!
I have no problem with her armor :)
