The lights are on
UPDATE: Fan efforts to bring notice to these Japanese releases are already starting to pay off. Over on Amazon, Monado: Beginning of the World (the original title of Xenoblade) has become the #1 bestseller in the video game category based on pre-orders. This is without the game having an official announcement or release date for the U.S. Well done, people! Keep it up.
ORIGINAL STORY: With Nintendo focusing on the 3DS and its Wii U announcement at E3 this year, there was a notable lack of Wii news in general. But amongst the most surprising and frustrating missing tidbits for fans of RPGs was Nintendo of America's continued lack of announcement regarding bring over three very promising Japanese RPGs: The Last Story (pictured), Xenoblade, and Pandora's Tower. Now some fans have started a campaign to push Nintendo toward localizing these titles.
Destructoid has full details on this letter-writing campaign -- yes, real paper letters -- which started on the IGN message boards in what has ballooned to a 23-page thread. The thread includes letter templates for each title urging Nintendo to localize and publish them in North America and a mailing address for Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime.
The effort doesn't stop at letters, though. The fans behind this push have started a Twitter account titled @Operation Rainfall, there's a Facebook group for the cause, and even GI's community has got into the spirit in the user blogs. If you'd like to see these games out in North America before the Wii dies, be sure to support some of these efforts however you can.
I doubt anyone from Nintendo is reading this news post, but just in case, let me muster all the power I have to tell you: I'd rather like to play these three games, so please consider releasing them here.
[Thanks to Dominic and Jesse B. for the news tips!]
If these games came out in the US, I would actually go buy a Wii.
hey nintendo fans just boycott the wii u if you don't get what you want.
There have got to be some worthwhile RPGs, hopefully made by companies OUTSIDE of Nintendo, or I won't even consider getting a Wii U, let alone a Wii, no matter how far the price drops. So, as frickmann123 says, "For the love of God, let this happen."
Ugh, I'd like a campaign to release the WaW Zombie maps on Black Ops for people to buy...
I've been holding off on buying a Wii until there are at least 1 must-play RPG, and all three of these have been on my radar. So count me in.
no wiis not allowed to have anything fun
at the very least xenoblade and last story. i mean xenoblade is going to be released EU... y not NA?
For some reason, after not being on my radar, lately I've been desperately hoping The Last Story and Xenoblade make their way over here- L.S. because I liked the studios' previous games Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, and Xenoblade because I LOVED the Xenosaga trilogy and hope it's something like those. I hope Nintendo announces something at TGS or something, and any release dates wouldn't be years away.
More RPGs for Nintendo please!
Nice! It's good to know it is actually having an effect. No matter how minor it may be. I would say the recent news is pretty impressive though.

They're closed on Sundays, so wait until tomorrow.
I hope we get those games they look fun.
I also want the fire emblem game they made after shadow dragon for the DS!
Hey Gameinformer guys, thats the wrong FB page, the official "Operation Rainfall" page is this one:
There's no problem with the other group, its just that we have to be centralized. The one I posted the link for has over 600 followers.
