CosBlog #59: Seung Mina By Konoe

Cosplayer Konoe is a fan of fighting games, and you can tell by the caliber of her work on Seung Mina’s SCIII costume (pun intended). If you like her style, make sure to visit Konoe’s DeviantArt account to check out other costumes from Final Fantasy, Tekken, Devil May Cry, and more.

Who: The Character
Seung Mina from Soul Calibur III

Why: The Decision
A time ago I was searching for a female game character with long brown hair, because I’ve have the same hair. I saw the official Soul Calibur IV art of Seung Mina. I was so happy I found her. Even before I first played Soul Calibur III I decided to make her costume. She is strong, beautiful, and she has a lot of costumes. I chose her first variant. I thought it the most beautiful of them all. And I love her weapon named Scarlet Thunder. Soul Calibur is the best fighting game I’ve ever seen.

What: The Process
The entire costume took about a week. I used polystyrene, pvc, wood, acrylic paints, scarlet textile, green atlas, and textile canting. The most difficult task was the patterns on top and skirt.

Where and When: The Debut
The debut was at the festival "Anifest Victory,” in St. Petersburg, Russia back in November 2009. We shot the costume at Aleksandrovsky park and Ekaterininsky park because there is a location called “China Village” with beautiful stylized Chinese Architecture.

  • Now THAT is hot...

  • These girls always look so awkward holding their staffs or blades or what-have-you. However, their aesthetically pleasing physique makes up for it.

  • That underboob shot is awesome.
  • *Peter Griffin laugh* Nehehehehe... when I saw the title, even before the first picture loaded I wondered about the top of the costume... and the whole flap+nobra element would be present. *nod* Really good character match for the model, and very nice work in staying true to the art with the costume - nice touch with the big eye contacts.
  • Well, at least their underwear makes up for the lack of decency of not wearing a bra.
  • HAWT!

  • to judge by that one image, each piece of this costume appears too small. not that i'm complaining ...

all in all nice details and a good likeness

  • Wow.... O.O

  • Pretty awesome job! My fave SC character!

  • Normally I think this cosplay stuff is retarded crap, but this, this is not too bad.

  • Umm, well this might not be the most appropriate thing to say but, Da** she looks fine. Can you say "Role-playing" lol.

  • Beautiful girl!  It seems SCIV cosplayers are some of the most accurate... and some of the most attractive.

  • Nice costume, bad fighting posture/pose/she would get owned in a second, and nice underboob

  • Fighting games are always good to cosplayers it seems, since that genre seems to have characters for every kind of build out there (I mean, c'mon -- even your typical fat dude could pull off Bob from Tekken!). But seeing someone do a great job with an attractive character, and match them up pretty well, that's just aces:) Great job, and love the dedication to the outfit's details. Not everyone would go all-out with the underboob.

  • Hot, a gamer, a good cosplayer, AND a chick! Does it get much better than that?!?! :D
  • Awesome half boob.

  • nice!

  • Why was this posted by Meagan? Is her GI account now used just for posting cosplay things? xD
  • Niiiiiiice.

  • Now someone needs to cosplay Ivy.
