LEGO Star Wars Coming To Television

The LEGO Star Wars games have provided an endearing retelling of the entire Star Wars saga. If you've played the games and wished that the cutscenes lasted longer, you're in luck. An animated special based on the LEGO games is in the works, set during the Clone Wars era.

ComingSoon.net spied posters promoting the special at the Licensing International Expo 2011. According to the site, the show could be hitting televisions by late September.

It'll be interesting to see if the special follows through with the games' tradition of communicating plots with pantomimes and the occasional grunt and squeal. It might be tough to maintain viewers' attention for a lengthy period of time, but would adding voices strip away some of the franchise's charm? We'll have to wait and see.

  • idk if im happy or depressed about this
  • This will be great for the the young ones. - R.I.P Ryan Dunn -
  • not enough bricks in the world that'll make me watch them destroy Star Wars, ill stick with bioware, they actually understand Star Wars...
  • The clone wars storyline was pretty stupid so I don't think I'll tuning in for this one.

  • Why...

Is it going to have voice actors or is it going to be arkward with grunts and shrugging shoulders..    :/

No thanks..  No one asked for it.

  • What they could do is expand on the cutscenes and make the entire Saga in LEGO form.

The Clone Wars have lost appeal to me.

  • Thank you George Lucas, for finally killing off Star Wars. You started the job years ago and most of us haven't forgotten how you ruined Mandalorians (lots of us will never see THAT as canon), so thanks, for finally killing Star Wars off.
  • Just to let everyone know, there was a LEGO Star Wars "TV special" years ago. There was even a LEGO Indiana Jones and LEGO Batman special that aired. Each was either a 5 minute episode miniseries or a 15 (maybe 30) minute special.

Nothing to really be concerned about since it's only a special, not a full on series.
  • Not to excited, Star Wars fans are going to be like "Holy cow, I can't believe this!" This might be very STUPID, the storyline sucked for the old movies, very confusing because of the mixed movie thing. So with that being said not to excited. (sigh)
  • Ya know, I would be happy with an Uncharted TV show. Anyone else want that?

  • Usually parents don't want to see their children stoop to whoring. Not Lucas

  • There was a Lego Star Wars animated short on Cartoon Network a few years ago, I don't see what the big deal is.

  • This will be awesome, I hope they pull it off well!!!

  • First Hero Factory and now this....

  • NO! F**KING BULLS**T! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! YOU CANNOT MAKE A SHOW OF A GAME OF A SHOW OF A MOVIE SERIES! I WILL END GEORGE LUCAS MYSELF BEFORE I LET THAT HAPPEN!

  • And I weep for the Star Wars franchise. Though that has been going on for more than 10 years now.

  • LETS GET SOME BATTLEFRONT 3 NEWS UP IN HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • But them not talking in the games is what makes it so unique and funny. Especially during dramatic parts of the game like when Qui-Gonn Jinn just has X's instead of eyes XD ROFL!. I don't know whether or not this is a good idea so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I wonder what channel/station it's going to air on if this rumor happens to be true.
  • I'd be interested in seeing what this is about. I thought Clone Wars was pretty crappy.
  • I haven't played to many Lego star wars games but when I did they were real funny! I got hopes for this.
