Longtime Madden Producer Leaves EA Tiburon

Developer EA Tiburon's own version of NFL free agency continues, as 14-year Madden veteran and executive producer Phil Frazier has left the studio.

"We appreciate Phil's 14 years of work on the Madden franchise and recognize he was looking for a new opportunity," EA Sports said in a statement posted on Kotaku. "Our team is changing to tackle new opportunities and we're confident in the new organizational structure and leadership we have in place."

Frazier is just the latest developer to leave the studio. Back in April, creative director Ian Cummings was among a group who left EA Tiburon.

EA Sports has confirmed that NCAA executive producer Roy Harvey will take over Frazier's role and act as dual EPs for both franchises until the company names a successor for the NCAA series.

  • Now Phil has left? I guess Roy Harvey being promoted could be seen as a positive for Madden(NCAA has been solid these last 2 years) but I wonder how much Madden will change in the next few years...

  • well, putting out the same game for 14 years would make me want to leave too...

  • HTTR!!! Love the Anthony Armstrong shot on the Home Page (He's catching that ball. Antrel Rolle is overrated...)!

  • Well good luck for whatever he decides to do next........but i cannot wait for the new madden!!

  • i hope they will find someone with his same talent skills.

  • Mod

With Madden dropping in quality the past few years I like that there making changes in terms of personel. And with this years game actually looking promising for a change maybe this is what Madden has needed. I like Harvey coming abord since NCAA has been the better football game lately.

I know folks at Tiburon have been talking abotu a three year plan to get this franchise out of the gutter. It looks Madden might be finally heading in the right direction.

  • Yeah, i havn't really been satisfied with any of the Maddens since Sega Genesis days.  Last year's version was finally a step in the right direction in terms of presentation, player control, and Gus Johnson!!!  He's hands down the best "in the moment" play by play man these days.

They really need to step up their game though.  I wish they had a competitor pushing them to make larger advances year to year instead of basically the same thing.

The NFL makes so much money, you think that a product they license to exclusively would be extraordinary and blow people away.  This game could be so amazing if they put their hearts and souls in it and think outside the traditional box and not be afraid to take some chances.

  • Madden has been terrible for years now, they haven't even tried to improve it since QB vision and they did away with that.  Where is an updated franchise mode?  People rip COD for putting out the same product year after year.  Madden has been doing that for easily 5-10 years.

  • VIVA LA NFL2K!!

  • Should've done a two year dev cycle and gotten the hope of EA fans back up.

  • After 14 years, I'd want to try something new! I just can't believe how long it took him to realize!

  • :( first the lockout now this  what a bad year for football
