Valve Announces Portal 2 Music Video Contest

While many gamers are familiar with the song that plays during Portal 2's end credits, you may not realize that the much-loved first-person puzzler from Valve also featured a song by The National. Now the developer is holding a contest challenging fans to create a music video for this track.

From today until July 15, fans can create and upload their own music videos for "Exile Vilify" by the National to YouTube. Uploaded videos must be tagged with "PORTAL2NATIONALEXILE" to qualify for the contest. In addition to becoming the official music video for "Exile Vilify," the winning entry will score an Eastwood guitar signed by the band, a big box of shirts, posters, and other prizes from Valve, and some bonus shirts from Jinx.

Valve says that the fan-created videos can include clips from the game, live-action footage, shots of the band -- whatever it takes to make the best music video possible.

wow that would save the company a ton of money to have people to come up with a video instead of paying to have it done.people love to do that sort of thing. i wish i was an visual artest!!!

That was a pretty good video in itself. I wonder who will win? I would love to see all the different videos! To bad I can't make one myself b/c I have no idea how to work all that youtube stuff. Curse you technology, and your pressy buttons!

What??? Get outta town, I LOVE the National! Saw them in concert last year and they were fantastic :)

I also love Portal 2, which I just got on sale at Gamestop last week. SO glad I gave into the hype! Once I heard Stephen Merchant was a lead character I was sold.
