343 Industries Trying To Bring Back Classic Controllers For Halo Fest

by Jeff Marchiafava on Jun 15, 2011 at 11:16 AM

Do you miss that big dumb controller that came out with the original Xbox? Of course you don't -- there are breeds of dogs smaller than Microsoft's debut console controller. However, despite how unruly the classic "Duke" controller was, playing the upcoming HD remake of the original Halo just wouldn't be the same without it. 343 Industries knows this, and is working hard to come up with a solution.

343 Industries' Alison Stroll told Giant Bomb that the company is looking into resurrecting the original Xbox controllers for its upcoming Halo Fest, which will take place during PAX Prime in Seattle, August 26-28. To accomplish this, Stroll picked up a bunch of the classic controllers at the Goodwill, which 343 is hoping some skilled modders will be able to rework into functional Xbox 360 controllers. After Halo Fest, the company plans to auction them off via Child's Play.

It sounds like a good use of the old controllers to me. Does anyone else have some old Duke controllers collecting dust in a closet?
