Tetris Goes 3D With PSN Update, 3DS And Samsung TV Versions Announced

by Jeff Marchiafava on Jun 14, 2011 at 10:52 AM

Alexey Pajitnov's class puzzle game continues its worldwide domination with a host of new versions, including a free 3D update on PSN, a new 3DS title, and a Samsung television app.

A new update to the PSN version of Tetris now makes the game playable in 3D, provided you have a 3D-capable television. The update is free and available right now, so check it out. If you don't already have the game, you can follow Playstation Blog's Twitter page today, as the site will be giving out codes to celebrate the update.

If you want to play Tetris in 3D but don't want to deal with the nerdy glasses, a 3DS version of the game is also in the works. The game will feature over 20 modes, including a few that take advantage of the system's augmented reality capabilities. The game will be available this October.

Finally, if you don't have a video game system but still need your Tetris fix, you can now play the game on Samsung Smart TVs via a $5.00 app from Oberon Media. A free trial version is now available for those interested in trying it out.
