Call Of Duty Elite Beta Passes 2 Million Sign-Ups

The Call of Duty Elite beta doesn't officially begin until July 14, but it sounds like plenty of players are ready to go.

Activision social media manager Dan Amrich has posted an update on his blog, One of Swords, that confirms over 2 million sign-ups in less than two weeks for the Call of Duty Elite beta program.

There's still about a month to go before the beta goes live so head on over to callofduty.com/elite to sign up and get in on the ground floor and see if it's worth paying for at final release.

  • I really don't feel like paying for something that I can get for free with Battlefield 3. Sorry CoD but for me, this year is all about Battlefield.
  • Those poor, poor fools....
  • I wonder what people were thinking when they signed up for the beta.BF3 is going to blow this elite *** away considering they have there own stat tracker for free.MW3 and the rest of the CoD franchise I wish the best of luck to you your going to need it a lot of it.The things people do these days a just because it has CoD attached to it beta get outa here stat tracking then when it comes out you got to pay for the better version and the free version will be like the beta.
  • all i can say is boobs
  • Seriously this is just plain wrong to make people pay for this when its such a simple thing thats why I'm going with Battlefield 3 this year
  • We'll see how the CoD BF3 war will end once they release I guess... This'll be sweet to watch :P
  • Pay for beta? I have gone from day-two buy to Wait-for-$30-rack.
  • Wow, so many sheep. Is the Beta free? I'd like to see how much adoption this gets if people have to pay for it.
  • Battlefield all the way.
  • Beta is free. Basic features of Elite are free. MW3 will sell more copies. Will it be a better overall game than BF3? Probably not.
  • Elite's basic features are FREE, as is the BETA. The fee is for additional content. The number of selective readers in the CoD related articles on this site is astounding.
  • Eh. October 25th can't come soon enough.

    Tanks
    Jets
    Humvees
    Helicopters
    UAVs
    Massive Maps
    New Engine
    Rush mode

Everyone knows what I am talking about...
  • COD players should stick with COD.  Don't try any other military shooters that may or may not be releasing this holiday.

  • If Battlefield 3 (awesome) gets a higher reveiw score than CoD(dried up) there are gonna be some epic fights on this site. Let me go get some pop-corn.
  • Who has ten fingers and didn't use any of them to sign up for Call of Duty Elite's Beta? THIS GUY! lolz

It's a Beta for a service that provides stats, I don't understand why you would even have to sign up for it if it's going to be free. Just release the *** thing free to everyone. Work out the kinks in the free service and then launch the paid portion in November with Modern Warfare 3.

Holding sign up based beta seems silly.
  • Sweet, already sign up

  • Not surprising. All I can say is I cant wait for this franchise to die. Only had one good game in the whole line up and it keeps recycling literally everything over and over.
  • I give this franchise 2 more games tops, but after MW3 there will be tons of people thinking "When did this game ever change" Then they realize it hasnt ever since the 4th

  • I hope I'm part of the 2 million.
  • Dear Game Informer, as you have never made any attempt to retool sensationalist headlines related to popular franchises (who could blame you right, it gets traffic) I plead with you - make the "GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS, THE SERVICE IS FREE" headline, where you make it crystal clear just how much of this service is absolutely free to everyone.
