OnLive Expands To Tablets & Phones

Starting this fall, OnLive subscribers will be able to play their OnLive titles via their Android tablet, iPad, iPhone, or Android smartphone.

The functionality will be enabled via an OnLive Player App that will let subscribers play almost all of their titles on their tablet of phone. Games can be controlled by either touch controls or OnLive's wireless controller, and your tablet or phone itself can be used as a controller when used with an HDTV – kind of like Nintendo's new Wii U. Multiplayer play and in-game chat is also supported via these additional devices.

OnLive's reach is impressive, but we're curious how regular console games control when using only touch controls.

  • WHAT?I can play ASSASINS CREED ON MY IPAD? OMGWTFBBQ

  • what about ipod touch?
  • Definitely a cool way to extend the experience.

  • I still think this thing is a stupid gimmick, and it's "cloud storage" means that you really never own the games you buy. It's money down the toilet.
  • More like OnLame, amirite?
  • Awesome!!

  • Good freakin move if you ask me.

  • my iPad!!!

  • If I somehow got a physical (or even digital download) copy of games I actually buy, I would be all for OnLive.  I mean, the monthly pass games I can understand being only streaming.  But for games I buy through the service I want to know that I will still own the game even if they go under.

Still, an really cool approach to pc gaming, especially their console system.

  • The customer must be very happy.

  • because the original onlive was a big success
  • Holy crap that's awesome! So now I can play my OnLive games on my ipad or iPhone?!? That's amazing. I can play Metro 2033 on my iPad wherever I go...that is the epitome of sweet!
  • I don't see why this is so great. You will have to bring around your OnLive controller to play games on your Ipad unless you want to use your touch screen. How does a touch screen accommodate games that require an 8 button controller with dual analogs? Lets not even talk about the lag problem. To me, Onlive is a total waste. I am not going to pay 50 bucks for a game where I don't even own a tangible copy. No thanks.
  • add all the bells and whistles you want, OnLive.

Still won't shake us from the big 3.

    OnLame...that's funny.

  • Xperia Play Compatible???

  • Onlive can suck my Dick!

  • wow pretty intresting

  • Imagine a scenario: You're at your parent's house for father's day. Your Dad wants you to spend all the time you have for them. They tell you: Don't bring any consoles, the next few days are about us. But you manage to sneak a ipod and a Onlive wireless controller. You get into their internet connection and start playing all your favorite games.
  • hmmm skeptical unless proven...
