Spielberg And Jackson Hype Tintin Game

Today at their E3 2011 press conference Ubisoft revealed more about a game based off the upcoming Peter Jackson/Steven movie The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. The game is a mix of different gameplay types, allowing players to step into the shoes of the old school adventurer.

Spielberg and Jackson boast the story of Tin Tin as being one of the most iconic adventurers of all time, and a hero that inspired the film luminaries in their youths. It appears the two are offering consultation in the game's development on some level.

The trailer showed Tintin and his trusty dog Snowy in action. Players will be able to control Snowy, fly a plane, and gun down enemies from a motorcycle’s sidecar. The action appears to switch between side-scrolling and 3D gameplay. One gripping sequence has Tintin escaping a sinking ship, with water violently crashing down hallways.

Though the movie is in 3D, it’s still unknown whether the game will support three-dimensional viewing. The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn is due out this fall, in coincidence with the film. It will be available on DS, PS3, 360, Wii, and PSP.

  • Ok... im not so sure on this one...

  • I'm surprised that they would spend their time at their press conference hyping a game based on a movie because such games almost always suck, and I bet that most of the audience at an event like E3 would be some of the most skeptical people of such a game.

  • maybe im just a little young but what the hell is tintin

  • Does Snowy seem an awful lot like Snoopy to anyone else?

  • On one hand, I wasn't particularly a Fan with this one, however; on the other, I have to remind myself that there are still gamers out there who are not in the mature audience, but are still much older than Sesame Street: Once upon a Monster.

So I guess for them it is a good choice, and it is nice to see that Game companies haven't forgot when you start to build your core gamer.

  • I remember Tintin. I don't know if I'll get this game but it seems very cool. I saw the title and was like, no way, they are making a freakin' Tintin game.

  • Tin Tin? the books you read in French 1? interesting.
  • The game is pretty impressive, it's going to have over twenty hours of gameplay, an art style very close to the movie, and multiple variations of gameplay types.  An adventure game with many genres.
