The lights are on
The Sony press conference kicked off with a message from SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton regarding the obvious elephant in the room -- the PlayStation Network outage.
Tretton delivered an apology to third parties for the cost of the outage to their businesses and thanked them as well as retail partners for their support. He also gave an apology to consumers for any "anxiety" the outage caused.
"You are the lifeblood of the company," Tretton said. "Without you there is no PlayStation."
Tretton went on to discuss some of the online services offered through PlayStation Network, including free access to CinemaNow. He also mentioned PlayStation 3 is the leading device of Netflix streaming and makes up more than 30 percent of Netflix streaming on all devices.
Finally, Tretton concluded the opening with a note to people who may have left the PlayStation brand or have yet to join the community by saying the press conference should help restore some faith in the brand.
It was kinda a weird note to start the conference with but Uncharted 3 broke that.
This has been much more of a talk press conference than Microsoft, EA, or Ubisoft.
Does anyone else hear that damned heavy breathing? JEEZ! It is disgusting!
Good that they apoligized in the end.
Apologizing? That's humbling and classy. Thank you Sony :)
"Nice Job, Jeremy!"

Thanks again sony this was a wonderful presentation.. so many choices, so many games, so many move games, so many decisions.... thanks sony! Apology Accepted!
Sony kicked so much butt this year! I love sony!
Thank you for the apology, Sony. :)
That apology couldn't have been handled any better, very well done. That was a hell of a show Sony!
Sony is being to nice.
Good for them. Very well handled. No funny spins on the apology, just the straight up "we're sorry." As much as I love KB, it wouldn't have been appropriate to have him come up and joke about it or something. Commendable job, Sony.
They handled the apology well by not making a joke of it. But I wish they would shine some light on when the PSN will be up at least partially in South Korea. I understand it barely makes up a part of their customers but completely ignoring the matter is no way to go about it.
great company and great games, bigger comeback on the horizon
