E3 Sights Of The Show: Day 1

by Matt Bertz on Jun 06, 2011 at 04:30 PM

Get a glimpse of the shenanigans that take place at the publisher press conferences, the convention showfloor, and the glamorous after parties.

Here are some pictures from Day 1 of E3 2011. Nobody gets to see all this cool stuff until tomorrow:

Here are pictures of the West Hall, pre-show:

This Ford lounge is super swanky

This is a G4 car

Street FIghter X Tekken!

Dragon's Dogma is available for play at Capcom's booth, along with Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

Sony usually has a pretty flashy booth.

But by far the best booth display goes to Bethesda.

A new Dragon Shout. Decipher it!

The detailed work on Bethesda's Skyrim wall is beautiful. Check out these close-ups:

That enemy from Rage literally has an uphill battle ahead of him. These mutants are all over the L.A. Convention Center.

A closer look at the protagonist of Rage defending himself.

A nondescript no-access door. Something about it drew me in.

A quick shot of the Into the Pixel video game art gallery

The cuddly animals of Kinectimals and a plethora of other amazing art.

This art is linked to the Half-Life universe. Very cool, if a little reminiscent of Portal.

And here is South Hall, pre-show:

A closer look at the War in the North section of the South Hall. It looks like it's a place for a band or orchestra to play some music.

And an even closer look.

The show's slogan. But what if my imagination is limitless?

The set for the Phineas & Ferb game.

OnLive has a surprisingly large booth in the corner of the South Hall.

Look closely and you can see this posh bed is equipped with bondage chains.

The star of World of Tanks: a tank.

One I haven't heard of: Orcs Must Die!

The SupaBoy is a handheld SNES with slots to plug in controllers.

Activision has a strange green light show set up. The neon green glow leads me to believe they'll be boasting Modern Warfare 3.

Looks like Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be playable at the Square-Enix booth.

Square-Enix folks set up Final Fantasy toys and other Square merch while playable Deus Ex stands loom in the distance.

An awesomely huge statue of Fenix, with buddy Dom looking on from behind.

Something went horribly wrong while setting up the Steel Carnage booth.

The Ninja Gaiden 3 booth had stands with consoles and headphones, so it's either playable or official representatives will be hosting demos.

This heavy weaponry was spotting outside Aliens: Colonial Marines booth.

The Aliens: Colonial Marines booth looks like it's straight out of James Cameron's set

A giant, rotating Sonic statue overlooks the entirety of the South Hall.

The light reflecting off Sonic makes him look like a gigantic blue deity.

Classic Sonic and modern Sonic stand guard at the Sega booth.

Sonic & Mario are competing in the London Olympic Games together.

This gigantic blue obelisk thing was spotted near THQ's booth.

EA Sports head Peter Moore pitches Madden NFL 12 with the imposing biceps of Peyton Hillis, Clay Matthews, and Ray Lewis (left to right).

Steven Speilberg shares his thoughts on the Ubisoft adaptation of The Adventures of Tintin.

He may looked aged, but Ezio is still a *** in Assassin's Creed: Revelations.
