Activision Thanks EA

Before the real bullets between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Electronic Arts' Battlefield 3 (shown above) really start flying when both games come out this November, Activision CEO Eric Hirschberg has taken the time out to thank his opponent.

In a wide-ranging interview with MCV, Hirshberg talks about the competition the Call of Duty franchise faces from year to year, and says that being number one naturally puts the series in the cross-hairs of other games and companies. Speaking specifically about EA CEO John Riccitiello's belief that EA's Battlefield series can take down Call of Duty, Hirshberg joked, "Well, I think EA might talk about our games in the press more than we do. So, the first thing I say to them is ‘Thanks for the assistance in building awareness.'"

  • really?? WOW! Im amazed. seriusly? i mean comon the ceo of activision is bein a Stand-Up Guy thanking ea and these people under me are talking smack? hmm. i mean ea tried to pull a plankton (taking the crabby patty formula from mr crabbs) from spongebob by talkin illegally to iws main people about the product... if anyone should be mad at anyone should be ea at ea, i mean comon 2 yrs trying to hype up and compare bf to COD, putting CODs name out there in their commercials? really honestly MOH was better then bf, ea already has everything else from sports games to dead space, they may as well let this rest because no way bf catchin up to COD, ea is actually kind of retarded if u ask me...
  • And the fan-boys are flooding the comments haha lol. But in all fairness the guy does have a point, if you listen to what people at EA are saying, they talk a good bit about call of duty.

  • Comeback:fail,HaHaHa

  • Well, Battlefield 3 is obeusly going to be the better game; but the sad truth is that Call of Duty always sells better.

  • Haha. He has balls. I like balls.
  • smart ass

  • I pre-ordered both. But I think CoD is goin just the way Guitar Hero did.....in 1 decade that is.

  • What a d*ck. He knows COD is doomed.

  • Nice!!

  • Zing! Oh, wow. I'm actually reading some of the comments on this article, and... really people? This literally means nothing. Any corporate sniping that goes on is amusing, but is absolutely nothing to get so worked up about. Chill...

  • I despise Activision.

  • I despise activision!! call of duty does not deserve to be number one shooter let alone number one game, activision is so stuck up, i will laugh when cod sales start to go down and they actually have to make a new engine.

  • Oh boy.

  • YO HIRSCHBERG, GO FORNICATE WITH A RED-HOT IRON POKER!!!!!

  • god i just want to wring booby koticks neck, even if he didnt make this comment

  • I'm sure it's meant in good clean fun, in that friendly rivalry kind of way. I mean, I thought it's funny since it's pretty true.

  • I really hate Activision, I'm sorry.

  • Boy I am sure cod guys are excited about their premium access. Pay 2 play for more content.. Lammmee. If you don't then you pay more separately. Go ahead CoD fan boys. Have fun.

  • Lol I think it was a joke you guys. I mean of all the things Activision or Activision reps have said, this is probably the least irritating.

And honestly, the fact that all other shooters say they want to take 'the crown from CoD' actually probably does help raise CoD up a bit.
