CosBlog #57: Rikku By QuarticMay
Cosplayer Rebecca (QuarticMay) proves that cosplay doesn’t always have to be a pricey endeavor if you are crafty enough. Her Rikku costume is made almost entirely out of salvaged items pulled together in a very short span of time. Check out her work below!
Who: The Character
Rikku from Final Fantasy X
Why: The Decision
I've always loved Final Fantasy X – it's one of my favorite from the series. So when a photographer friend of mine told me to make a cosplay that would go with a beach setting, I knew I should go with Rikku. She's fun, lovable, and a bit of a goof, just like me!
What: The Process
Since this was a last minute costume decision, I had only two weeks to make the costume before the photoshoot time. Rikku was made almost entirely of reused costume parts/clothing from thrift stores. The shirt was from Goodwill, the shorts, green armbands, and green crosses were all reused from a previous TenTen cosplay, and the material for the boots came from scrap pieces from other cosplays as well. In total, I spent about $30 on the buckles, gloves, shoes, feathers, and material for the blue shoulder flags. The most difficult part of this probably was trying to assemble everything on time. I had to forego making any weaponry due to time constraints.
Where and When: The Debut
The photoshoot took place in the beautiful island St. Martin in the Caribbean.
