Call Of Duty TV Series Exclusive To Elite Subscribers

by Tim Turi on Jun 01, 2011 at 12:05 PM

From the moment it was announced the Call of Duty Elite paid subscription service has had gamers curious how Activision can make a monthly rate worth it. We’ve gotten our hands on features like stat-tracking, social networking, and competitions boasting exclusive prizes. Now we’re hearing that Elite members will also have access to web TV series.

"We have engaged some top Hollywood talent to create linear video content that will be exclusive to Elite members. That content is inspired by Call of Duty," Activision Publishing chief executive Eric Hirshberg told Guardian.

Every publisher is interested in keeping brand awareness in full swing year round, and Activision has taken cues from sports broadcasting to deliver Call of Duty fans a drip feed to keep them hooked. "If you're a sports fan, there are lots of ways for you to connect with that hobby, that passion, not just on the day that the games are played, but throughout the week, and we wanted to give [gamers] real entertainment value,” he continued.

It remains unknown whether the show will be live action or animated, but if they’re paying for top bill celebrities, Activision will probably want their faces in front of a camera.

Elite launches as a beta test program this summer and goes live the same day as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, November 8. Watch a video preview of Elite here.
