Interplay & Fallout MMO In Peril...Again

by Matthew Kato on May 31, 2011 at 09:57 AM

A recent SEC filing by Interplay paints a very bleak picture for the company that could endanger its Fallout MMO.

Gamasutra reports that the company could be down to as little as $3,000 in cash by the end of 2010 due to losses the past few years of over $2 million. A statement to shareholders from the company reads in part, "If we cannot generate additional income or raise additional capital in the near future, we may become insolvent and/or be made bankrupt and/or may become illiquid or worthless."

Of course, Interplay's continuing legal battle with Bethesda over the Fallout MMO have taken their toll on Interplay, and the company says it hopes to make some money off of licensing out its properties such as Earthworm Jim and Descent.

If you're a Bethesda fan, the death of Interplay looks like it mean that the rights to a Fallout MMO would revert back to Bethesda – which would surely make a lot of people happy. Who's side are you on?
