Capcom Confirms Phoenix Wright Live Action Movie

The world's coolest attorney (except for Matlock) is going to hit the silver screen in Japan, with a very respected director at the helm.

It looks like the rumors are true. The Phoenix Wright movie will be directed by Takashi Miike (Crows Zero, Thirteen Assassins). It's an interesting choice, as his previous work is decidedly not aimed at children (to say the least). Hiroki Narimiya will play Phoenix Wright, while his rival Miles Edgeworth will be played by Takumi Saito. The film is being produced by Nippon Television Network Corporation and distributed by Toho Co., Ltd. Right now, it's slated for a spring 2012 release. Let's hope it makes it to our shores on Blu-ray and DVD at some point.

Capcom also revealed the first casting photo, of Mirei Kiritani, who will play Phoenix's assistant Maya Fey.

  • hahaha why do japanese people love this game so much
  • Aha, this would make for one hilarious movie. I question why these games are so sure to get films why games more legible for movie making like Bioshock, Halo, so forth are put on hold.
  • For my money, Harvey is cooler than Phoenix Wright and friends.

    Save the OBJECTION!(s)

*Does Ninty have some sort of exclusivity deal with Cap for the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright series? I'd be totally down to play an Ace Attorney game with Kinect- even better if it were released on XBLA.

WAIT HOLD THE PHONE Takashi Miike? WTF?! I'm a fan of most of his stuff... seems like an odd choice, my interest is piqued.

Did he have kids recently or something?
Phoenix Wright: Takashi Miike as Spy Kids: Robert Rodriguez ??
  • OBJECTION!!

LOL! I had to say it. :)

I hope this movie will be good.

  • It has potential to be a good movie. I'm a big fan of the Ace Attorney series and I hope they don't screw it up.
  • Burgers, dummy! Burgers!

  • Sweet! I look forward to seeing how this turns out.

  • HOLD IT! It's live action?! It should be anime, like the Professor Layton movie was! That said, this could be interesting. Hopefully it makes it to the US, unlike the Professor Layton movie...
  • Well, I hope it comes to the U.S sometime. I'd watch it, no matter what.

  • Capcom really needs to get on pleasing the American Ace Attorney fans. I mean, they already said no to localizing the newest Ace Attorney Investigations once (which we are currently fighting here: http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/27423285/Why_Arent_You_Localizing_Ace_Attorney_Investigations_2?pg=1) And then the localization for for the PW/Layton crossover seems in doubt too. Why would we expect to get this movie?
  • Really fun game, not sure on if I will see this, it seems like it would be a straight to DVD release for America.
  • I DO NOT OBJECT!

  • I love ace attorney but I got a bad feeling about this for some reason
  • Too funny, I'm holding my breath for this one
  • nice

  • I hope it makes a release at the local Broadway Theater here in sunny funny SLC...and I secretly hope that Wrights hair makes an accurate transition from game to film...Got to love Takashi Miike!

  • Never played Ace Attorney, but it looks weirdly fun lol :)
  • OBJECTION!!!..... This is great new!

  • They shoulda just made it into an anime series.
  • Please, just bring it over with subtitles. I don't even need dubbing; it will let me see Ace Attorney in its truest form. Just let me understand what is going on. Nor do I need Blu-ray. Come on, they already canceled Investigations 2, so this could definitely make up for it.
