Sony Announces PS3 Black Ops Bundle And New PSP Pack

by Matt Helgeson on May 25, 2011 at 06:40 AM

Sony announced two new retail bundles today, the most notable of which packs in Activision's ultra-successful Call of Duty: Black Ops and the First Strike DLC pack with the PlayStation 3.

The Black Ops bundle features the aforementioned game content and a brand new 160GB PlayStation 3 for $299, the current standard retail price for the 160GB model. So, you're basically getting Black Ops and First Strike for free, a great deal if you're one of the four or five humans on Earth that haven't already bought the game. The Black Ops bundle will be available nationwide at retailers on May 31.

Sony's also continuing to find new ways to move PSP units in spite of the upcoming NGP handheld launch. The latest is the a limited edition PSP "entertainment pack" (pictured below) that bundles a piano black PSP-3000 system, a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, MLB 11: The Show, and Gran Turismo. The pack will run you $159.99. The PSP-3000 Core Pack, which comes without a Memory Stick or any games, current retails for $129.99. Considering that a 2GB Memory Stick alone runs about $20, it's a fairly good deal if you factor in the games as well. The PSP entertainment pack will be available in June, but Sony did not specify a date.
