Learn How To Do LEGO Stop Motion

Check out the making-of video for the brilliant LEGO Star Wars III stop motion film.

Ever wonder how they do those cool stop motion videos with the little LEGO guys running around? A few weeks back, we posted this fun video connected to LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

Today, LucasArts sent along this making of video from Jordan Johnson (YouTube handle: Fancy Pants), the artist/filmmaker who put together the video. You can check out the "set" for the film, as well as a brief tutorial and how he does what he does.

LEGO Star Wars III has been out for a couple of months now, but it's definitely worth checking out if you've ever been a fan of the series. You can read our review here.

Enjoy the video!

  • How come they never tell you how they make objects float in the air in stop motion animation? That has been a burning question of mine.
  • They only show you how to do Lego Star wars? What about others?

  • I do not have the patience for that :|

  • Jesus Christ, that requires dedication!

  • he has waaaaaaaay too much free time
  • This guy should give Seth Green a call.

  • Cool, and i love robot chicken too, just sayin haha.

  • dude must have a ton of patience

  • That's a lot of hard work!

  • how does he make the pieces float?!!!?

  • I wanna do my own stop motion after seeing this video. Looks like a lot of fun.

  • I have an appreciation for people who do this because it seems like an absolutely terrible process that ends up looking cool.
  • I could see doing that having the same addictive nature as playing a hearty round of Civ. Just one more, just one more, next thing you know it's 3am and you have 2 1/2 hours until you gotta get up for work, but just one more!

  • I got to be a stop-motion animator...   :-D
