Is Carmageddon Coming Back?

Is the long-dormant franchise coming back? A countdown timer on the Carmageddon website suggests that an announcement is coming soon.

While it's been a very long time since we raised vehicular hell with a Carmageddon game (the last one was Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000 – and let's be honest, no one played that game), if Twisted Metal can return in a reboot that throws a nod to the series early days, why not Carmageddon.

As of this writing, the countdown timer read 11:07:02:15, so remember to check the Carmageddon site on June 1. If you don't remember, we'll be sure to do a news story when and if a new game is announced.

The Carmageddon IP is currently owned by Square Enix.
