Original APB Creator Joins APB Reloaded
David Jones, formerly of Realtime Worlds and original creator of APB, has teamed up with the studio handling the game's reincarnation as APB Reloaded.
Jones will work with developer Reload Productions in an advisory role as the studio continues to reboot APB as a free-to-play MMO shooter. In the announcement, Jones says: "This game was my passion back when I was developing it with Realtime Worlds, and I'm extremely excited to be able to participate in fulfilling the long term vision for the title."
David Jones has some impressive game design credentials, including the original Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown. However, I'm not sure I understand the logic of hiring back one of the people who made the game unsuccessful in its first incarnation, especially considering that the failure of APB was a major factor in Realtime Worlds going bankrupt last year.
