Try Rift For Free

Trion's MMO is getting a major update, and the company hopes to rope in more gamers through two new programs.

According to Trion's press release, the first initiative allows interested players to check out the game free for 7 days. If you like what you see, you can advantage of the second promotion: a referral program that rewards players with in-game goodies for getting their friends to buy the game.

Are you interested in getting wrapped up in a new MMO? This is as a good an opportunity as any. If you want to know what you're in for, check out these impressions from the game's launch.

  • I REALLY need to get Windows on my Mac.
  • I've been waiting for this. Rift sounds fun,but I would like to try before I buy. It's also easier to get friends into a game they've played, rather than trying to explain it. This is great news for me.

  • That's why i like win i can play tons on games like Company of Heroes:)
  • MMOs aren't for me. I want to like them, but I just don't have the time, and I find that it all looks last gen.
  • Ive been playing Rift sine the beta. Its good times. i like it alot better than WOW.

  • vagimas

  • ... Naaahh.

  • I'm good.

  • I'll give it a try. Not like I'd lose anything by doing so.
  • Rift seriously is a great mmo, been playing it since about day 3. glad to see they're letting new players give it a free shot before they decide to make the investment. all good drug dealers know you always give the first hit for free :)
  • I might try it if I liked MMOs. Unfortunately(or fortunately, depending how you look at it), I like single player experiences.

  • Seems interesting.

  • This is very tempting.

Classes end here within the week, it'll be difficult to resist the temptation to get lost in another MMO.

    Trion has excellent timing.

  • I think a free trial is good when it comes to something like an MMO.

...it's not going to help me, but still.

  • Awesome!! I've been wanting to try Rift. I stopped playing WoW shortly after WotLK came out. I'm getting a new PC soon so this would be an excellent way to christen it.

  • Eh.

  • My PC is old as heck otherwise I'd be checking out Rift right now.

  • I took a long shot just last week and fixed up my old comp and got rift. I have to say I like everything about it so far even though I havent had much time to put into it. Glad to see that people can try it out, maybe I can get some friends to come along for the ride.

one note though for new players that agitated me when I first installed, click the box that enables vertical screen sync so you dont get tears in the screen. Basically makes you think your comp cant handle it if you dont by having it get all choppy in the middle of the screen

  • 7 Days isn't long enough. What happened to 30 Day Free Trials for this stuff? If you're going to pay a subscription fee, the LEAST they could do is offer you a month free
  • good deal, i'll have to check it out
