Activision's Kotick Expects Console Price Drops

by Matthew Kato on May 10, 2011 at 04:10 AM

Yesterday Activision announced quarterly financial results (think money signs, and lots of them), and amidst the good news, CEO Bobby Kotick had something to say about the current home consoles and their prices.

In an interview with The Financial Times, Kotick expressed great confidence in future price drops for unspecified systems. "We've more confidence in consumer spending, we feel like some of that has stabilized, and there are price cuts on the [console] hardware in the works," he said.

"In the works"? Could this be as soon as E3 in June, or is he referring to something farther out like the holidays? Either way, we're getting to that point in the console's lifecycles that price drops are almost a foregone conclusion.
