Diablo III Beta Coming Soon

Blizzard says that you could be playing Diablo III sooner than you might have thought.

In today's quarterly earnings call by Activision, Blizzard chief Mike Morhaime had this to say: "We began internal company-wide testing last week. The game looks great, and we're currently targeting a Q3 launch for external beta testing." For those not in the know, that would put the beta somewhere between July and September.

That might put the game on track for release late this year, but don't start holding Blizzard to any promises. "The development team is working hard to try and launch Diablo III this year, but I want to be clear that we do not have an official release date or window yet," Morhaime said. "As always, we will not compromise the quality of the game in order to hit a window."

    Maybe they'll be doing an internal Beta for a console version in the meantime? Ah, one can only hope.

    For as long as they've been "improving the quality" of DiabloIII, one would think that this would have to be one of the best games of all-time (either that, or they have suffered from some major bug-fixing). We've all been waiting long enough for this, let's hope we are not let down. And let's hope for CONSOLE releases, as has been mentioned by Blizzard.

    Does anyone know if there is a confirmation for a console version at this point? I heard the rumors but it'd be awesome to hear that it will for sure be on the consoles as well. My current pc isn't exactly current gen. He'll, its barely last gen. Haha.

    This years games would hit my "to do list" if this came out.

    Also when did the starcraft 2 beta start was it a few months before the game was released or...
    Just seeing how long we can expect.

    Good... I would REALLY hope it comes out like February 2012 instead of November/December, because I will not have any money in those months. (Thank you Uncharted 3, Skyrim, and few other triple-A games whose names escape me.)
