THQ: Homefront Can Be As Successful As Call Of Duty

Everyone expects a certain amount of PR spin when a publisher talks about its products, but THQ's love for Homefront borders on the kind of propaganda that the game's invading forces demonstrate. In a recent interview, THQ CEO Brian Farrell stated that Homefront has the possibility to be as successful as Activision's dominating FPS franchise.

Speaking with IndustryGamers, Farrell was unfazed by the gap between Homefront's 2.6 million copies shipped and Black Ops' 13-plus million copies sold. "When I think about it, if you go back and look at the original Call of Duty, how they built that, the first Call of Duty didn’t do 18 million units," Farrell said. "The franchise was built over time, building a quality consumer experience and supporting it well. And hey, there’s a lot of room between 2.6 million units and 18."

Farrell isn't the first CEO to set its sights on Call of Duty. Late last year EA's John Riccitiello declared a similar goal for Battlefield. EA has announced that it's spending $100 million in advertising to help Battlefield achieve CoD status, but Homefront? I guess you can't accuse THQ of lacking ambition.
