New Burnout Title on the Way for XBLA/PSN?

by Matthew Kato on May 06, 2011 at 12:27 PM

Some Burnout fans were disappointed that Burnout Paradise didn't have the series' traditional Crash mode, but it may be getting its very own title according to a recent listing by the ESRB.

The new game was already revealed via an Australian ratings leak, but now the title (and the presumed return of Crash mode) has been confirmed by the ESRB. The ratings association has a listing for a title called Burnout Crash!, which is rated E10+ for cartoon violence due to players' crashing "cartoony" vehicles in intersections from a top-down perspective. Given the visual style of the game, it sounds like Crash! may be an XBLA and PSN title for those respective consoles. Interestingly, Crash! also features natural disasters like UFOs and tornadoes that will add an extra layer of destruction.

Here's the description from the official ESRB listing:

"This is an action game in which players earn points for creating traffic pileups. From a top-down perspective, players initiate crashes by driving 'cartoony' vehicles (e.g., cars, trucks, vans, buses) into busy intersections; multiple crashes trigger score multipliers and rack up large 'bills' of property damage. Each level is accompanied by crashing sounds, small explosions, and vocal encouragement (e.g., 'Cool,' 'Maximum Carnage!'). In some levels, players are instructed to crash into police cars (e.g., 'Crash them before they bust you!'); in other sequences, oversized airplanes, tornados, lobster monsters, and UFOs slide across the screen, destroying any vehicles in their path."
