UPDATE: What Is The Next Assassin's Creed Game? Is That Altaïr?

Ubisoft has posted an unusual facebook page that teases the next entry in their blockbuster franchise.

After numerous rumors and leaked details went unconfirmed by Ubisoft last week, the publisher has officially launched a teaser campaign for the upcoming Assassin's Creed game. You can check out the Assassin's Creed teaser if you have an active facebook account.

The site reveals a flickering image that is mostly clouded over, though the visible part of the picture shows both a fortress and the hand of someone holding the familiar hidden blade mechanism.

The site also has an activity monitor that may be tied to the number of people who are looking at or who have looked at the page. The teaser encourages viewers to: "Share & Like to spread the word for an exclusive sneak peek at the coming game reveal." There's also an option to send messages by email, Twitter, or facebook to alert friends to the page's existence.

Are you excited to see more about the next installment of Assassin's Creed?

Update (1:00 PM CST): Another image has just appeared. This Assassin's garb looks more like Altaïr's outfit from the first Assassin's Creed to us. What do you think?

Update (4:10 PM CST): The latest phase of the AC tease shows what appears to be a distinctive building of some sort. Any idea where that might be?

Update (8:45 PM CST): An early phase in the reveal shows us a hand wrapped in white with a hidden blade. Guesses?

  • WOOT! More Assassin's Creed!
  • quite excited. AC: Brotherhood was easily my favorite of the three and i can't wait for the next chapter.
  • Yes, Definitely excited.
  • I'm glad Game Informer has the balls to make two headlines in a row that basically say "We don't know anything."
  • Played the first game, loved it. Tried the others...meh... I dunno. Personally, I actually got bored with this series pretty fast :/ I can't remember..did they say they were working on a BG&E2 yet or what? Or did they waste all their funds in that creepy wii game where you had to lick your remote like a banana *shudders*...
  • Yeah but I don't have a facebook page and don't care to have one.
  • The games are coming too fast for my liking. The first one was good but quickly got boring. The second was just about perfect and kept my attention throughout. The third started off good but became really aggravating and I rushed through to beat it towards the end because I was just sick of it. I didn't even bother going back and getting the collectibles / achievements, which is rare for me. They'll really have to change up the formula and presentation for this one or I likely won't bother...and it's doubtful they will since it's coming so soon after the last.
  • If they keep releasing Assassin's Creed games it's going to end up like Call of Duty dull and unoriginal.
  • Well who cant be excited about another Assassins creed game? Looking forward to another great game from ubisoft

  • Just about finished with "II". Will finally be starting on "Brotherhood" shortly thereafter.

  • after the last one yes ive spent a lot of time on that game and i cant wait to continue the awesome story

  • this is good news so could it be out prior to years end??

this is officially Assassins Creed III correct? either way 2 1/2 (brotherhood) was awesome im looking forward to this franchise returning. wooot

  • So ..when you guys are showing the Assassins Creed Revelations cover to us? ;) Silly Gameinformer
  • I can't wait! I love Assassin's Creed so much, I've played since the beginning. I thought Brotherhood was going to fail, but it blew me a away! The multiplayer is such a change of pace from a FPS or Third person shooter. I can't wait for the next! (AC3?)
  • They really need to stop making annual releases and take their time to make an actual sequel.
  • All I care to see is the conclusion of Desmond's story.
  • Im super excited about another AC game as long as it has a completely new setting. No more Italy please, even though it was brilliant.

  • I hate that GI knows what the next title is in the Series but is pretending that it is clueless. Assassins Creed is next Months Cover story. Done and Done. Stop withholding information from us. I just want to know now.
  • I'm the most excited for the new setting/time period, hopefully it's interesting.
