Over 250 Colleges Have Requested The Crysis 2 Engine

by Dan Ryckert on May 01, 2011 at 07:23 AM

Developer Crytek made an offer to universities with the CryEngine 3 educational program, and over 250 colleges have requested the engine. "We are absolutely delighted by the huge interest that academics from all around the globe have shown in CryEngine 3," says Crytek's Carl Jones.

Several areas of academia are utilizing the engine, including uses in physics, computer science, architecture, and filmmaking. The developer's Avni Yerli says "Thousands of students now have access to the same cutting-edge technology that the world’s best developers are using for their ongoing projects. With our CryEngine 3 educational SDK we want to enable them to achieve their vision and create their very own innovation to become the next generation of developers."
