[Update #2]: Sony Stops Production Of PSP Go, But Not In US
[Update #2]: It looks like Sony isn't ready to throw in the towel on the PSP Go just yet. While production of the handheld is history in Japan and Europe, the PSP Go will still be available in America.
Sony of America confirmed the news with Joystiq, stating unequivocally: "We are continuing production of PSP Go for North America." So I guess that makes us...winners?
[Update #1]: Sony of Japan has confirmed that it has stopped production of the PSP Go. According to Japanese site AV Watch, Sony says it's no longer shipping the PSP Go in order to focus on its next handheld, the NGP. The company did however say it was sticking by the regular PSP, which it will continue to support since it "continues to sell."

[Original Story]: A Japanese blogger is reporting that Sony has ceased production of the PSP Go. The blogger, who claims to work for a Sony retail partner in Japan, wrote a post that was translated and summarized by the gaming blog Andriasang. In the write up, the blogger claims that his sales manager had received word from Sony that it had stopped manufacturing the Go and that the store should not expect to get any further shipments of the unit.
Andriasang also noted that the Japanese Sony Store's game page has removed the PSP Go from its listings. The system still shows up in a direct link, but it appears that you cannot complete an order due to lack of stock.
We have contacted Sony on this matter and will update the story with any official statement.
