The lights are on
NetherRealm's Ed Boon says that the developer wanted to create a 360-exclusive character, but were prevented from doing so due to pesky "circumstances."
Speaking to Eurogamer, Boon said that the team wanted to give Xbox 360 Mortal Kombat owners their own character like PS3's Kratos, but ultimately it wasn't up to them. "I'm not allowed to talk too much about it, but I can tell you we certainly wanted to do an exclusive for 360, but that's all I can say. It was not a decision we made where we said, 'Oh, let's not do one for the 360.'"
Boon says that NetherRealm wanted to include an 360-exclusive character bad enough that the team was already dreaming up who it could be before the idea was quashed. "Anybody who's really knowledgeable about the Xbox video games, the big titles, names like Master Chief from Halo, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War, and any other Xbox exclusive title, is going to come up in a conversation in talking about it. So clearly we've discussed it."
Unfortunately, it's not to be. Boon's tip-toeing around who's to blame, but who would kill the idea? Microsoft? And for god's sake, why?!

I have both 360 and PS3 and even though I love Kratos (no homo) I'm still undecided which version to get. It depends if my friends are gonna get it and the most of them have 360 but I prefer fighting games on ps3 more
The notion is laughable at this point. Who would they use? Master Chief again - for all intents and purposes, he was done already in DOA4 (a much better fighter regardless, but that's neither here nor there. Although I suppose THAT'S besides the point too, since Kratos was already done in Soul Calibur IV for PSP - another much superior fighter). But seriously - one of the COGS from Gears? A car from Forza!?! Hahaha.
Microsoft's first party sucks. They're notable for two things; failure, and giving up. MS if perfectly happy nowadays leaving it up to third parties to define the 360's identity, which is not exactly the role of a first party. They were much "hungrier" last gen, but they've failed well over two dozen potential franchises at this point.
Still, I would've LOVED to see Azurik as the exclusive Microsoft character! XD
Alan Wake perhaps? Blinx the Time Sweeper? Voodoo Vince? Angry, faceless Cop guy from Crackdown 2? Conker? Banjo? An XBL Avatar? It would've been ironic to see some, forgettable failed character from Tao Feng, Kung Fu Chaos or Kakuto Chojin (all failed exclusive MS fighters). Or a plane from Crimson Skies? A mech from MechAssault? An Orc from Shadowrun? God Microsoft sucks. How could anyone prefer a 360 to a PS3 or PC at this point?
banjo and kazooie doing fatalities to mortal kombat characters would be awesom
The arbiter with a energy sword.
fatality 1: shanks enemy with one strong spike and then smirks at him in mid air.
fatality 2: cuts off arms with energy sword and then sticks a plasma grenade to his forehead and kicks him away.
Master cheif
Fatality 1: T-Bag
Haha.
Well that's a bummer
I don't own a 360 but even I say c'mon let them have their exclusive char.
Despite Sony being shunned on several high-profile games when it comes to timed exclusives(Call of Duty) or permanents(OBLIVION), 360 owners are getting pissed because Microsoft finally got screwed over? That's pretty sad.
i find it stupid that microsoft would allow sony to have there own exclusive character and not have one of there own.
HAHAHA i'm glad they got nothing finaly the shoe is on the other foot
Who would quash that? Stupid move whoever decided on that.
Do they have to do a 360 exclusive character from a first party game? That might give them enough room to maneuver one in, if they did a third party character. I'm just hoping, because Prophet from Crysis would be right at home with all these cyborgs.
thier just saying that because 360 doesnt have anyone good enough to be in mortal kombat lol
I hate when consoles have exclusive stuff anyway. I'm a completionist and making me feel like I don't entirely own something right from the get-go doesn't sit well with me.
Mark Fenix would have been the best fit and he's a dink anyway. I'm happy with the game and Nobody needs to go being a fanboy.
