Guitar Hero DLC Done With

by Adam Biessener on Apr 16, 2011 at 12:51 PM

Activision community guy Dan "One of Swords" Amrich posted a touching eulogy for the series on the PlayStation Blog along with the news that the franchise is officially on hiatus.

"With the release of April’s downloadable Track Packs, Guitar Hero as a franchise goes on vacation until further notice," Amrich wrote.

We knew this was coming, but now it's official. Godspeed, you goofy cartoony rock caricatures.

Of course, Activision hasn't said it's killing off the series for good, but since when do companies ever say, "We're never ever going to make another game in this franchise." The door is never explicitly closed, but "indefinite hiatus" is as close to dead as anything gets in this business until the parent company goes under. And even then, you see beloved series return from the grave.

Will you miss Guitar Hero, or does this announcement touch nothing in your cold, dead heart?
