Details Surface On The Controller For New Nintendo Console

by Matt Helgeson on Apr 14, 2011 at 03:32 PM

Since Game Informer broke the story on the new Nintendo HD console that is set to be revealed at this year's E3 convention, gamers have been scouring the Internet for more details about the unit.

Now, we have our first reports about the controller and the system's graphical power. CVG has spoken to a source in the in the industry who said that the new console's controller is not just an upgraded Wii remote, but a much more advanced piece of hardware that will feature a built-in HD screen.

The source did not reveal if the HD controller screen was a touch screen, like the DS, but did seem to be enthusiastic about the console as a whole.

The unnamed source said, "Nintendo's plans sound unreal. Publishers are already planning launch titles and it's all very exciting."

The article does not specify if the new system features motion controls like the Wii. However, the source did say that the new console is completely backwards compatible with Wii, so we can probably assume that motion control will be included.

Nintendo has still not made an official comment on this report or our original report.
